Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Jon Taylor knew he wanted to mix films at an early age, a path he started down in 1987, landing his first job as a receptionist at a small sound house in Hollywood. It was there, Taylor embraced opportunity, learning about each facet of the sound business. Taylor soon found himself at the forefront, mixing his first commercial, and never looked back. Taylor’s career path gained traction, as he immersed himself into the Television world, mixing hundreds of episodes for network broadcast, and winning two Emmy Awards, before finding his way into
feature films.
Taylor started his feature career at Sony, before joining Todd-AO on Stage S, at CBS Radford, Studio City, CA. Taylor’s love of music and storytelling were a perfect fit for his feature mixing career, working with directors that include Bill Condon, Alejandro Iñárritu, David Leitch, Angelina Jolie, F. Gary Gray, Justin Lin, and Guillermo del Toro, all
who brought him mixing experiences he will never forget.
Taylor who has been mixing at Universal for 17 years and resides on the Hitchcock Mixing Stage, has mixed dialogue, music, and effects on over two hundred feature films including Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, The Fall Guy, 21 Grams, Bullet Train, Gone Baby Gone, Straight Outta Compton, The Cooler, and Star Trek Beyond as well as
concert films for the Michael Jackson Estate.
Taylor is a four time Academy Award nominee, with numerous CAS, HPA, and BAFTA nominations and awards for best sound on features such as Babel, The Revenant, Birdman: The Virtue of Ignorance, Unbroken, Biutiful, and First Man.
