Andy Potvin is a Senior Staff Engineer at Dolby Laboratories, based in Los Angeles, CA. Andy specializes in film audio with more than 26 years at Dolby focused on the application of Dolby technology and audio mastering work on over 600 feature films. Andy’s years of experience and insights into audio and needs of creative partners was instrumental to the development of Dolby Atmos. With his critical experience in immersive audio, Andy has most recently been tasked to combine his in-studio experience along with early career skills in live sound as part of Dolby’s latest efforts to bring the best possible sound to non-traditional, large venues such as The Peacock Theater and The Shrine Auditorium among many.
Andy is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He contributes ongoing efforts to Theater Standards work at the Academy as well as leadership managing the audio systems in the theaters at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the Television Academy and the Dolby Theatre for major film premieres. Andy continues to expand his skills and experience through continued interaction with industry colleagues and creatives and time spent on mix stages around the world.
