Hundreds of 5.1 and 7.1 sound editing and mix stages have been built over the past 25 years, and with the rapid acceptance of immersive audio formats in film and television, many, if not all, of them will be undergoing a technology changeover—to Cat5 and Cat6 wiring, ceiling speakers, 360-degree acoustical treatments, system integration, and all-new control and workflow paradigms.
