Steve Pederson is an Academy Award-winning re-recording mixer whose career in sound spans more than 30 years and 150 motion picture and television productions. Part of the sound team at Sony Pictures since 2013, Pederson has recently applied his talents to such films as The Magnificent Seven (2016), When the Bough Breaks (2016) and Father Figures (2017), as well as the television series Outcast (2016) and True Detective (2014). Starting at Universal Pictures and then later at Glen Glenn Sound, he spent the early years of his career working his way from a dub stage machine operator to a sound editor in the early electronic editing process then known as PAP (Post Audio Processing). Using the editing skills he acquired, at the fork in the road of editing or mixing, he chose to turn his attention to mixing in 1986. He was given this opportunity to mix by the legendary mixer Robert Knudson, then the President of Todd-AO. He had the opportunity to work on many classic and popular films, including Schindler's List (1993), which brought him an Oscar nomination, and Apollo 13 (1995), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Sound in 1995.
