SONY PICTURES STUDIOS
HOST PARTNER

Mix launched Sound for Film & Television at Sony Pictures Studios 12 years ago. Sony’s continued partnership and support have played a vital role in the event’s success—providing world-class facilities, access to legendary stages, and an inspiring atmosphere that brings the audio post-production community together in an authentic, immersive setting.
The mix stages and edit suites at Sony Pictures Studios Post Production Services set a global standard for performance, versatility, consistency, service, and scope. Mix Presents Sound for Film & TV is proud to be hosted at these premier facilities.
CARY GRANT THEATER
The Cary Grant Stage at Sony, updated in 2018, is a world-class re-recording stage favored by directors like Quentin Tarantino.
With a 325-seat capacity and unmatched tech—including Dolby Atmos, IMAX, and Auro 3D—it features the world’s largest Avid S6 console, a 256-channel HDX recorder, a 48-speaker JBL system with a powerful front array, and fully upgraded wiring and networking.
Films like Spiderman and Venom were also mixed here.
BARBRA STREISAND SCORING STAGE
The Barbra Streisand Scoring Stage, a historic Hollywood landmark since 1939 and host to The Wizard of Oz sessions, remains one of the few old-style scoring stages still in use.
While the stage itself is largely unchanged, Sony recently added Shawn Murphy’s legendary Neumann M50 mic collection. The control room includes a 96-channel Neve 88R console with 192 mix inputs, motorized faders, a custom scoring panel.
BURT LANCASTER THEATER
In 2020, the 108-seat Burt Lancaster Theater underwent a complete technology, acoustic and interior refresh, upgrading to Dolby Atmos and IMAX immersive formats with the addition of:
- Two-operator Avid S6 console with additional 32 channels of Harrison
- New four-way JBL 5749/5742 Cinema Screen Array across the front channels
ANTHONY QUINN THEATER
In 2024, the 100-seat Anthony Quinn Theater was upgraded to Dolby Atmos and IMAX with a new Avid S6 console, JBL 5749/5742 front array, and all-new wiring.
The most extensive interior refresh included modernized client-area furniture and fabrics, and a unique acoustic solution: original Japanese Garden-style artwork from the 1990s was reproduced and silk-screened onto MEYER'S custom Libra acoustic panels, including the ceiling dome.
KIM NOVAK THEATER
In 2015, the Kim Novak Theater—sister to the William Holden in size but different in style—became Sony’s second mix stage upgraded for Dolby Atmos.
A more extensive update followed in 2022, adding a dual-operator Avid S6 console with 32 extra Harrison channels, a new four-way JBL 5749/5742 front array, all-new wiring, and support for IMAX and Auro 3D formats.
WILLIAM HOLDEN THEATER
In 2014, the William Holden Theater became Sony’s first re-recording stage—and just the third in Hollywood—renovated for immersive sound formats.
It quickly became the hub for Mix Presents Sound for Film, showcasing Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D, and DTS:X. In 2024, the 238-seat stage was upgraded again with a dual-operator Avid S6 console and 32 channels of Harrison, a new JBL 5749/5742 Cinema Screen Array, all-new wiring, and support for IMAX and Auro 3D.
DUB STAGE 17
The highly versatile Dub Stage 17, which is popular with top TV and streaming shows, and equally suited to sound design, theatrical and Dolby Atmos Home work. It was renovated in 2022 with the addition of an updated two-operator Avid S6 console and Meyer Sound 9.1.6 immersive monitoring system.
ADR 1
The spacious and high-ceilinged ADR 1 can host large groups, small ensembles or solo actors, and because of the room’s highly flexible acoustics, they all sound great.
The control room features an all-digital path centred around a Yamaha DM2000 console and Pro Tools. It also offers an extensive and varied microphone collection, as well as every secure and high-quality connection available for remote distribution and approvals.
